Privacy Policy
Best Lines · Last updated: October 16, 2026
This policy explains what information the Best Lines app for iPhone and iPad (the “App”) uses, why, who it is shared with, and what choices you have.
Who is responsible
The App is developed by Bernard Bijoch, an independent developer based in Poland (“I”, “me”). I am the controller of personal data processed in connection with the App. You can contact me at any time at bbijoch@gmail.com.
In short
- There are no accounts and I run no servers for the App. I do not receive your name or contact details.
- Your games, scores, statistics and settings are stored on your device. If you use iCloud, some settings are synced through your iCloud account; if you use Game Center, your scores are sent to Apple’s leaderboards.
- The App uses Firebase (Google Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring) to understand how the App is used and to fix crashes.
- The free version shows banner ads from Google AdMob. You can remove ads with an in-app purchase.
Information stored on your device
The App saves your current game, best scores, game statistics and settings, such as ball colours and board size, on your device. This information is not sent to me. Deleting the App removes it.
Game Center
If you are signed in to Game Center, the App submits your scores to Game Center leaderboards and uses your Game Center player identifier on your device to keep your scores separate from other players on the same device. Game Center is operated by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. You can sign out of Game Center in iOS Settings at any time.
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, the App uses iCloud key-value storage to keep some settings, such as board size, ball colours and teleports, in sync across your devices. This data is stored in your iCloud account by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy; I have no access to it. You can turn off iCloud for the App in iOS Settings.
Sharing and links
You can share your score with the iOS share sheet; you decide which app or person receives it. The App also contains a link to the Best Lines page on Facebook, which opens outside the App, in your browser or the Facebook app, under Facebook’s own privacy policy.
Analytics, crash reports and performance
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring. They record which features are used, such as opening the menu, help or settings, technical details of crashes, and performance measurements such as start-up time, together with a random identifier of your App installation, your device model, iOS version, App version, language and approximate country derived from your IP address. I use this information to fix errors and improve the game. It is not linked to your name or contact details. Google processes it on my behalf under the Firebase data processing terms. User-level analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months, and crash and performance data for a limited time; see Firebase’s privacy information.
Advertising
The free version of the App shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google. If you buy the in-app purchase that removes ads, no further ads are requested.
To deliver ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- your IP address, which can indicate your approximate location;
- device and operating-system information, such as model, system version, language and screen size;
- information about the App and about the ads you see and tap;
- your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), where available (see below).
Google uses this data to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, detect fraud and abuse, and, where permitted, personalise ads. Google acts as an independent controller of this data under its own Privacy Policy. You can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and manage ad personalisation at myadcenter.google.com.
Users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. This version of the App does not show a consent message. For users in these regions, Google may therefore show only non-personalised or limited ads, which are not based on your activity in other apps or on websites.
Advertising identifier. On iOS 14.5 and later the App does not ask for permission to track you, so your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available to the App or to Google. On earlier iOS versions you can limit its use in iOS Settings › Privacy › Advertising.
In-app purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple. I do not receive your payment details; the App only learns whether the purchase that removes ads is active.
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Storing your games and settings, syncing them through iCloud and submitting scores to Game Center are necessary to provide the game and the features you choose to use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Analytics, crash reports, performance measurements and the delivery and measurement of non-personalised or limited ads are based on my legitimate interests in keeping the App working, improving it, funding a free game and keeping ads safe (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object to this processing at any time by contacting me, or stop it by deleting the App.
How long data is kept
Data stored on your device stays there until you delete the App; settings synced through iCloud stay in your iCloud account until you remove them. Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months, and crash and performance data for a limited time described in Firebase’s privacy information. Data collected by Google for advertising is retained according to Google’s retention policy.
Sharing and international transfers
The App shares data only with Google, as the Firebase and advertising provider described above, and with Apple for iCloud, Game Center and purchases. Both are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection terms, which provide protection at least equal to that described in this policy. Google and Apple may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, relying on safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability and, where processing is based on consent, to withdraw it at any time. Because I do not keep your data on any server of my own, most of these rights can be exercised directly on your device, for example by changing the App’s settings or deleting the App, and with the Google tools linked above. Firebase data is linked only to a random installation identifier, so I usually cannot find it from your request; deleting the App resets that identifier. For any request or question, write to bbijoch@gmail.com; I will reply within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority: in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw), or the authority in the country where you live or work.
Children
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in your country. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, please contact me.
Security
Data saved by the App is kept in its private storage, protected by the iOS app sandbox and your device’s security settings. Firebase and ad data are sent to Google over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but the App keeps the data it handles to a minimum.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when the App changes. The current version is always available on this page, with the date of the last update at the top. If a change significantly affects how your data is used, I will also mention it in the release notes of the App.
